The wine has a wonderfully clean and natural feel, and it can be paired with a wide range of foods. \\about Winery ワイナリーについて// SOMOS / ソモス McLaren Vale, South Australia 2013 年設立 / 年産 2800 ケース Owner Winemaker : Ben Caldwell / ベン・コールドウェル & Mauricio Ruiz Cantu / マウリシオ・ルイス・カントゥー オーストラリアとメキシコ、国籍の異なる 2 人の若者によって 2013年に始まった SOMOS / ソモス。NSW州出身で最初は化学者を志していたという Ben Caldwell / ベン・コールドウェル(1984 年生まれ)と、メキシコ北東部ヌエボ・レオン州モ ンテレイ出身でワイン造りを学ぶためにオーストラリアへ留学していた Mauricio Ruiz Cantu /マウリシオ・ルイス・カントゥー (1988 年生まれ)。二人が出会ったのは醸造と栽培を学ぶ大学在籍中のこと。すぐに意気投合した二人は大学を卒業しその足で「Juguette Wines / フゲーテ(スペイン語でおもちゃの意)」を登録、そこから全ては始まりました。 当初は Juguette Winesとして伝統的スタイルのワインのみを生産していましたが、若い二人にとってそれだけで彼らの想像力が満たされることはなく、すぐに Minimal Intervention / ミニマル・インタヴェンション(最低限の人的介入)スタイルでのプロジ ェクト「SOMOS(スペイン語で”私たち”の意)」が 2014 年にスタート。マクラーレン・ヴェイル / アデレード・ヒルズを中心にバイオダイナミック / オーガニック農法で栽培されたブドウを信頼のおける農家から継続して購入、野生酵母による醗酵、最小限 の添加物使用のアプローチでワイン造りを行っています。 SOMOS was started in 2013 by two young men of different nationalities from Australia and Mexico: Ben Caldwell (b. 1984) from NSW, who initially wanted to be a chemist, and Mauricio Ruiz Cantu (b. 1988) from Monterrey, Nuevo León, northeastern Mexico, who came to Australia to study winemaking. They met while studying oenology and viticulture at university. They hit it off right away and registered Juguette Wines (Spanish for "toy") right out of college, and that's how it all began. Initially, Juguette Wines produced only traditional style wines, but for the young couple, that was not enough to satisfy their imagination and they soon started a Minimal Intervention style project called SOMOS. The Minimal Intervention style project "SOMOS" (Spanish for "we") was launched in 2014. We continue to purchase biodynamic/organic grapes from trusted farmers in the McLaren Vale/Adelaide Hills region, and use wild yeast fermentation and minimal additives in our winemaking approach.
