The wine has a pale green-yellow color, aromas of green apple, sweetie and pear, a creamy mouthfeel with apricot and yellow fruit flavors, and a moderate volume with a good saltiness integrated into the palate. \\about Vigneron 生産者について// ロワール地方トゥールから東側にロワール河とシェール河の間に広がるACモンル イは1938年に認定され、シュナンブランで辛口から甘口までの白ワインを生産しております。M.Jacky BLOTの出現から始まり、今は亡きStephane Cossaisをはじめ色んな生産者がこのACの認知度を高めてきました。 フランツ・ソーモンは2002年からワイン造りを始めた醸造家で、今ではDomaineだけの生産量では足りなく2009年からネゴシアンの会社Un Saumon dans la Loire(アン・ソーモン・ダン・ラ・ロワール)を設立し、意欲的に活躍しております。無農薬の農法に興味が有り、シュナンブランに挑戦したいとモンルイを選びまし た。 畑で無農薬の仕事はきりがありません。彼の畑は4haですが、オーナーが無農薬とは全く反対の農法を行っていたので、1年目は仕事がエンドレスな状態で した。予算の関係もあり、最初から畑は購入できません。1haを購入し、残り3ha は借りました。この3haも将来的に購入予定です。4haをたった1人で化学肥料 から無農薬へ切り替える作業が大変なのがご想像頂けますでしょうか？本当に朝から晩まで畑とにらめっこです。 このように沢山のエネルギーを頂いた畑から取れたブドウは格別です。彼の畑は毎年毎年、質が向上しております。 久しぶりに彼のモンルイを飲んだら、2002年当時のワインより、グッとグッと洗礼された素晴らしいワインになっております。 私の中ではいつまでも若きフランツが印象的ですが、今ではもう大御所の仲間入り、Gregory Leclear氏もフランツの所で見習いとして働いてたことがあり、若手醸造家を育てどんどん指導する立場に回っているのです。丁度脂の乗っている充分な経験を積んだ醸造家。やはりこういうワインは是非リストに載せて頂きたいラインです。(新井順子) 2019年の3月からフランツは、パートナーのマリー・チボーと醸造所、熟成場所をシェアしています。以前より使用しているモンルイ圏内の自宅兼醸造所から、高速道路を使っても車で1時間程かかるvalleresという村で、洞窟(とても広い)を醸造所と熟成場所にして、様々な種類のタンク、アン フォラ、樽を所有しています。洞窟のすぐ向かいには自宅があり、マリーと二人の娘さんと毎日なんだか楽しそうに暮らしております。 この新カーヴではネゴスものを醸造しており、タンクを置く広い場所があるからこそ為せる技ですが、それぞれのミレジムの特徴やブドウの特性に合わせタンクを使い分ける、かつ各キュヴェに熟成の時間もかけてあげることができる、とても良い環境で醸造を行っています。 モンルイにある旧カーヴでは自社ブドウを使ったドメーヌものを醸造しており、新カーヴ近くの新しい畑に植樹したコーとピノノワールで造るドメーヌもの の赤ワインが数年後にはお披露目できそうです。 (2020年1月訪問) AC Montlouis, located between the Loire and Cher rivers east of Tours in the Loire region, was recognized in 1938 and produces dry to sweet white Chenin Blanc wines. Since the advent of M. Jacky BLOT, many producers have come and gone, including the late Stephane Cossais. This is the first time that the AC has been recognized by various producers, including the late Stephane Cossais. Frantz Saumon is a winemaker who started making wine in 2002, and in 2009 he established a négociant company called Un Saumon dans la Loire. I chose Montlouis because I am interested in pesticide-free farming and wanted to try Chenin Blanc. There is no end to the work that can be done in the vineyard without pesticides. His vineyard is 4 hectares in size, but the owner was using the exact opposite of pesticide-free farming methods, so the work was endless in the first year. Due to budget constraints, we could not buy the farm from the beginning, so we bought 1 ha and rented the remaining 3 ha. You can imagine how difficult it is to switch from chemical fertilizer to pesticide-free farming with only one person working on 4 hectares. I am staring at the fields from morning to night. The grapes from the vineyards that have received so much energy are exceptional. The quality of his vineyards continues to improve every year. When I drank his Montlouis for the first time in a long time, the wine was much more refined and wonderful than it was in 2002. I've always been impressed by the young Frantz, but now Gregory Leclear, who used to be an apprentice at Franz's, is in a position to nurture and guide young winemakers. (written by Junko Arai) Since March 2019, Frantz has been sharing the brewery and aging space with his partner Marie Thibault. In the village of Valleres, about an hour's drive on the highway from their home and brewery in the Montlouis area, they have a (very large) cave that they use as their brewery and aging area, with a variety of tanks, amphorae, and barrels. Just across the street from the cave is their home, where Marie and their two daughters live somewhat happily every day. This new cave is where we vinify our Negos, and the large tank space allows us to use different tanks for each millesime, depending on the characteristics of the grapes, and to give each cuvée time to mature. The old caves in Montlouis are producing estate wines from their own grapes, and the estate red wines made from Caux and Pinot Noir planted in the new vineyards near the new caves will be available in a few years.
