Hand-picked grapes were fermented with wild yeasts in open fermenters, crushed with human feet, basket-pressed and allowed to settle before being transferred to old French barrels (228L to foudre). After 16 months in barrels on lees, the wine was very lightly filtered and bottled with a small amount of SO2. No fining agent used. Alc. 15% \\about Winery ワイナリーについて// Liquid Rock n Roll / AUSTRALIA, Victoria State リキッド ロックンロール (ヴィクトリア州/キングヴァレー・ヒースコート) 2013年設立。年産 1,500ケース。 オーナーワインメーカー/アレックス・バーン 「Liquid Rock n Roll / リキッド ロックンロール」はオーナーワインメーカーであるアレクサンダー(アレックス)・ バーンとその友人キム・ファレルの、音楽とワインのある人生を愛する 2 人によって 2013 年に設立された年産 1500 ケースほどの新しいプロジェクト。アレックスがワインに携わるようになったのは僅かに17 歳の時で、農業と園芸を学 びながらドミニク・ポルテのタルターニ・ヴィンヤードで働き始めたのが全ての始まりでした。その後接客業やワインセ ールスを経験した後、ドミニク・ポルテがヤラ・ヴァレーに新設したワイナリーで 2002年セラーハンドとして再度雇われ、以降はワインメーカーとしての道を突き進みます。ディーキン大学およびチャールズ・スタート大学で醸造学を修め、同時にマーガレットリヴァーや北ローヌのワイナリーでヴィンテージも経験。卒業後はブルゴーニュで経験を積み、 オーストラリアへ帰国。レスブリッジでワインメーカーとして働きつつ(現在は契約を終了している)、自身のブランド 「Bryne Wines」をバララットで立ち上げます。そして2013年、同じくワイン業界で事務方として経験を積んでいたキムと出会い意気投合、「今までとは異なるスタイルで、より挑戦的な姿勢でワインを造ってみたい」と立ち上げたのが 「リキッド ロックンロール」です。 ワイン造りに通じるコンセプトはミニマム・インタヴェンション(最低限の人的介入)で、醗酵は全て野生酵母、添加物 は必要最低限の酸化防止剤のみ。ヴィクトリア州の冷涼な気候を備えた畑から採れるブドウ(自分たちの目が届く範囲で信頼関係のある農家から購入)から品種特性やテロワールをしっかり表現して造られます。ナチュラルなアプローチですが、「クリーンな酒質で飲む喜びを純粋に感じられるワインを造りたいんだ。良いロックンロールと同じさ。エキサイティングでエネルギーに溢れ、良い気分にさせてくれるだろう?」と飲みやすくも刺激的なワインをオフフレーヴァーなく仕上げます。 Liquid Rock n Roll is a new 1,500 case per year project founded in 2013 by owner-winemaker Alexander (Alex) Byrne and his friend Kim Farrell, two people who love a life with music and wine. Alex started working with wine when he was only 17 years old, when he started working at Dominique Porte's Tartani Vineyard while studying agriculture and horticulture. After working in hospitality and wine sales, he was hired back in 2002 as a cellarhand at Dominique Porte's new winery in the Yarra Valley, and has been a winemaker ever since. He studied oenology at Deakin University and Charles Sturt University, and also worked in vintages at wineries in Margaret River and the Northern Rhone. After graduation, he gained experience in Burgundy and returned to Australia. While working as a winemaker in Lethbridge (now out of contract), he launched his own brand, Bryne Wines, in Ballarat. In 2013, he met Kim, who had also gained experience as an administrative assistant in the wine industry, and they hit it off, "I want to make wine with a different style and a more challenging attitude," and launched "Liquid Rock and Roll. Liquid Rock 'n' Roll is made from grapes from Victoria's cool climate vineyards (purchased from farmers within our reach and with whom we have a trusting relationship), with a strong expression of varietal characteristics and terroir. The approach is natural, but with a firm expression of "I want to make a wine that is clean and a pure pleasure to drink. It's like good rock and roll. The wines are exciting, energetic, and will make you feel good. It is a natural approach that results in "clean drinking pleasure" and easy drinking yet exciting wines without off-flavors.
