Seven generations have been making natural wines for 250 years (!!!). Small winery of 4 ha. Rich, gentle mouthfeel reflecting the richness of the volcanic soils of the cool Biobio Valley in southern Chile. The vineyards are ploughed with horses and much of the work is done by hand Complex flavours emerge from vines averaging over 250 years old! In Chile, the wine was traditionally prepared in large open-top barrels and the wine finished in barrel ageing was weighed directly from the barrels into bottles. The IL bottle Pipeño is a remnant of this: Pipeño = pipa = barrel, barrel wine. *Cacique Maravilla = Magnificent Chief, as her great-grandfather, seven generations before her, who came from the Canary Islands in 1750, was respectfully called.
