Stander 南アフリカの南西海岸で育ち、サーフィンをこよなく愛するエムシー。 2009年にステレンボッシュ大学で醸造学と栽培学の学位を取得。パール郊外でのジューステンベルグで研修後、オーガニックでのぶどう栽培、ナチュラルなワイン造りに興味を持ち、カーリーロウのもとで修行をかさねる。 2015年にスワートランドへの引っ越しにより、多くの若手生産者と出会い、交流をし、それが転機となり、2019年に独立を決断する。 ワイナリー名は、植物で育ったぶどうからワインは造られ、この信じられないほど複雑で生きた液体に変わることから「liquid（液体）」を意味するエル(l)。「エクイノックス」は、化学物質を使用しないバランスの取れた生態系、ワインの醸造においても少量のSO2を除いてワインに添加物を使用しないことで、バランスを取ることを意味している。 Emcee grew up on the south-west coast of South Africa and loves surfing. He graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2009 with a degree in oenology and viticulture. After training in the Paarl suburb of Gjustenberg, he became interested in organic viticulture and natural winemaking and trained with Curly Rowe. A move to Swartland in 2015 allowed him to meet and interact with many young producers, which was a turning point and led to his decision to set up on his own in 2019. The winery's name is el(l), meaning 'liquid', as the wine is made from grapes grown on the plant and transformed into this incredibly complex, living liquid. 'Equinox' means a balanced ecosystem without chemicals, and in winemaking, balance is achieved by using no additives in the wine, with the exception of a small amount of SO2.
