Sarnan-Belieu is a negociant and estate established in 2007. It was founded by Jean-Pascal Sarnant, who worked for a financial company, and Jean-Marie Belew, who taught at an oenology school while making wine on the estate. Jean-Pascal Sarnant bought selected vineyards in the village of Saint-Romain, where he lives, in 2007 and started producing wine. Jean-Marie Berrieux moved into winemaking in 1999, honing his skills at wineries in Arbois and Saint Romain, and five years later, in 2004, he acquired a 0.25 Ha plot of Burgundy Blanc near the village of Puligny Montrachet to make his first estate wines. Their passion for winemaking was shared by the natural wine producers around them and they have now succeeded in buying grapes from renowned producers. The winery, located in the village of Montelli, was renovated by the duo from the basement of a guesthouse into an open barrel room and a cool underground cellar where the lees are laid down. Their commitment to quality is so strong that even when management was tight just after the estate was set up, they reduced yields and pursued quality over production. He has even released a wine called 'Petit Têteux', which means 'little stubborn man' in French, after his own personality. He is always in the vineyard, working in the active soil to produce wines with minerality. Only one or two items of Burgundy Blanc are made on the estate, depending on the year. The plot is below Puligny-Montrachet and adjacent to the Leroy vineyard. The wine is carefully crafted with low yields and slow barrel fermentation. Their motto is "racking as naturally as possible at the end of the month" and they use as little sulphite as possible. The wines, which are made with great passion, are full of fruit aromas and pure extract. The wines express the characteristics of each terroir, are natural and have the potential to age for a long time. Because of its new history of winemaking, it is not well known except to a few enthusiasts, but it is already slowly establishing a reputation in the European natural wine industry and is attracting a great deal of attention. ＜The wines are also being introduced in places such as! ＞The wine is also known for its natural wines.
