Frizzante. Made from Catarratto grapes from a vineyard in a calcareous sandy soil with clay called "Timpi Rossi". Hand harvested in September. Fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks. No racking. Non-filtered. This wine is slightly effervescent and resembles a Spumante Brut, so Aldo named it Brut (ugly) after it. Light but juicy and satisfying frizzante.　 \\about Vigna 生産者について// アルド・ヴィオラ Aldo Viola イタリア　シチリア州　トラーパニ　アルカモ Trapani Alcamo, Sicily, Italy 圧倒的な熱量を放つワインを生み出すシチリアの鬼才 アルカモにワイナリーを構えるビオディナミも取り入れた自然農法の葡萄栽培を行う生産者。現地のワインの記事の中には彼の事を"自然派ワイン界のパブロ・ピカソ"と呼ぶ人もいる個性むき出しの生産者です。 ​ そんな彼は同じアルカモのアレッサンドロ・ヴィオラとは実の兄弟。 父から受け継がれたピエトロ・リノーサの畑はアレッサンドロと共に分けあって共に無農薬栽培をしています。 彼のもう一つの畑はアルカモから南に下った山間にあるカラタフィーミの奥にある"フェウド・グアリーニ"にあります。 彼の主力葡萄品種であるシラーはこちらの畑で栽培されており、フランスのサンジョセフと同じクローンのシラーが植えられています。 この畑は標高400～500mの位地にあり、あたりには巨大な風力発電の風車がいくつも建てられており、一面に強い風が吹きます。 いくつもの山の丘が望め、本当に美しい景色です。 同じアルカモでも海岸付近とは全く別の場所に感じます。 彼の畑は元々は石灰の石がごろごろとしており、非常に厳しさを感じる場所でした。それを何年もかけて砕き、移し、今の葡萄の環境へと変化させていったのです。その場所からはとても強い自然のエネルギーが蓄積されているのだとアルドは言います。確かに歩いているだけで体力を削られるような"強さ"を感じる場所でした。そういった強い畑での作業後は精魂尽きるような状態になる事もあるそうです。 アルドという男と話して一番に印象に残ったワードは"エネルギー"という言葉です。 先程のフェウド・グアリーニの畑だけでは無く、アルド自身からも強い意志のあるエネルギーが発散されているようにう感じました。 ワインや畑の話しをする時は目を思いっきり開いて強い口調で話します。周りから見ると相当変わっている雰囲気が彼から滲み出ています。 葡萄栽培、ワイン造りにおける彼の考えや行動は、宗教的で彼は殉教者のような行動と発言を行います。 自らは畑のエネルギーを如何にしてワインに落とし込むのか、それを最大のテーマにしています。"仕事"では無く"使命"なのだと語っていました。 彼が行っているワイナリーはビジネスでは無く、それこそが生きる理由だと断言します。 出来上がるワインにも並々ならぬ愛情を持っています。 そんな彼の造るワインには確かなエネルギーを感じます。 畑や葡萄から来る部分と、ワイン造りに人生を捧げているアルドからのエネルギー、その両方がワインに見事に乗り移っているようです。 シラーもグリッロも飲み人を引っ張るような勢いのあるアグレッシブなワインで、その中に強い熱量が感じられ飲む人を引き込むようです。確かにエネルギーの強さを感じるワインなのですが、どこか穏やかで整ったような印象があり、決して難解なワインではありません。説得力のあるワインなのです。 アルド・ヴィオラと初めて会った時は少し難しい人物という印象でした。 ですが、彼の考えをしっかりと聞いて打ち解けると優しく、頼りになる人でした。 現在イタリアではシチリアの自然ワインでアルドの名前は最初の方で上げられる事が多く、テイスターから評価をされ、自然なワインの若手生産者も彼の栽培を見学に行くなど支持を受けています。 ​ 今まで日本では認知されていなかった生産者ですが、その実力は本物。 ​ ぜひ一度そのエネルギーに満ちたワインを味わってみてください。 Sicilian Prodigy Produces Wines that Radiate Overwhelming Heat A natural winegrower with a winery in Alcamo who also practices biodynamic viticulture. Some local wine writers have called him "the Pablo Picasso of the natural wine world. He is the brother of Alessandro Viola, who is also from Alcamo. They share the Pietro Rinosa vineyard inherited from their father with Alessandro and grow it together without any pesticides. His other vineyard is located in the "Feudo Guarini", deep in the mountains of Caratafimi, south of Alcamo. Syrah, his flagship grape variety, is grown in this vineyard, which is planted with the same clone of Syrah as Saint Joseph in France. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 400 to 500 meters above sea level and is surrounded by huge wind turbines, which create a strong wind all around. The view of the many mountain hills is truly beautiful. It feels like a completely different place from the coastal area, even though it is the same Alcamo. His vineyard was originally a very harsh place, with lime stones strewn all over the place. Over the years, it was broken up, moved, and transformed into the current grapevine environment. Aldo says that there is a very strong natural energy stored from that place. It was certainly a place where you could feel the "intensity" of the energy just walking around. After working in such a strong field, he said he sometimes felt like he was running out of energy. The word that left the biggest impression on me when I talked with Aldo was the word "energy. Not only the vineyards of Feudo Guarini, but also Aldo himself seemed to emanate a strong willed energy. When he talks about wine or vineyards, he opens his eyes wide and speaks in a strong tone. He exudes an atmosphere that is quite unusual to those around him. His thoughts and actions regarding viticulture and winemaking are religious, and he acts and speaks like a martyr. His main theme is how to translate the energy of the vineyard into wine. It is not a job, but a mission. His winery is not a business, but his reason for living. He has an extraordinary love for the wines he makes. The wines he makes have a certain energy. The energy that comes from the vineyards and grapes and the energy from Aldo, who has dedicated his life to winemaking, both seem to carry over beautifully into the wine. Both the Syrah and the Grillo are aggressive wines that pull you along with them, with a strong sense of passion that seems to draw you in. These are wines that are certainly energetic, but they also have a calm and well-rounded impression, and are by no means difficult wines to understand. It is a compelling wine. When I first met Aldo Viola, I had the impression that he was a bit difficult. However, after listening to his ideas and getting to know him, I found him to be a kind and dependable person. Today in Italy, Aldo's name is often the first one mentioned in Sicilian natural wines, and he is highly regarded by tasters and supported by young producers of natural wines who go to visit his vineyards. He is a producer who has not been recognized in Japan until now, but his ability is genuine. Please come and taste his energetic wines.
